Colorblocking Crazy Color Combos

Hell of a blog post title, ae? Anyways, if you know me, you know that there's almost NOTHING I love more than playing with colors and textures. I always played it safe though! Ya know, the navy blue and red, mint green and dark plum, light blue and cobalt blue. . . the uje. But after seeing Style With Shannon's guest post on the modest fashion blog, Clothed Much, I was inspired to revamp my color combinations TOTALLY! Here's my extremely casual take on the teal & red combo.

Beanie: F21, $5. Studs: Aldo, $2.50. Teal cardigan: Wet Seal, $10. Red blouse: Savers, $6. (available at F21) Belt: Goodwill, $2.99. Skinny jeans: Savers, $6. Purse: Savers, $7. Watch: my sisters! Ring: F21, $5.80. Slippers: F21, $9.80.

I used this poor ole bag alllll throughout high school and the poor thing has more than its share of battlescars. One end of the strap has no place to attach to the purse itself, so I safety pinned the two sides of the purse together, hooked the strap on to the safety pin, and tied a piece of white lace around it. And now it looks even cuter than before :)

Saturday-After-Black-Friday HUGE AZZ Haul and Long Azz Post

On the Saturday after Black Friday, the Navy Exchange (NEX) has this MAJOR sale where all the drugstore cosmetic brands are 50% off! I decided to let myself go semi-nuts because: 1) the NEX is already cheaper than the outside stores and 2) it's HALF OFF!

A week before the sale, I did about 5 hours of research. I found out which brands were in the sale, went to each of their websites, pored over ALL the products, picked which ones I needed/wanted, googled for reviews on blogs and Makeup Alley to find out whether they were worth buying, and listed everything that had good feedback. Yup, I take this ish sinceriously.

I didn't realize I had about $200 worth of stuff until I got to the register and had to give up most of my bronzers, blushes, and nail polishes :( I got about $160 worth of shizz but ended up returning $30 worth of stuff, only to buy 1 primer, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer and 1 nail polish later lol.

Best part: Getting the expensive stuff like the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Pen and those damned Physician Formula products for SUPER cheap. And I got like. . . choke bobby pins cuh.
Worst part: There was NO more L'oreal Perfecting Base Face Primer when I got there! And giving up my Maybelline Dream Mousse blushes, nude nail polishes, and contouring powders :( :( :(

BUT I'M STILL HAPPY :)

'Splain My Life Pt.1 : There was a separate sale for Conair curling irons. 1", 1+1/2" and 1+1/4" irons were only $5 ea. and I already have a 1" so I skipped 1+1/2" and went for the 1+1/4" fallah. I would've gotten more makeup removers, but I usually use lotion and I don't wear foundation so I figga no need!

'Splain My Life Pt. 2: The lipstick names are actually bottom to top lol. SORRY BOUT DAT! I also got a Covergirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Spice (270) and the Burt's Bee's Tinted Lip Balm in Champagne. Most of the stuff I returned were lipsticks lol.

'Splain My Life Pt.3: K I fail! Lol the bottom polish is called Cafe Au Lait, NOT Chai Latte! I can't even go on about how sad I was I had to put back some of the nail polishes I had! HONORABLE MENTIONS: Sally Hansen polishes in Commander In Chic (brownish-taupe), Uptempo Plum (BEAUTIFUL dark purple with gold glitter) and Kook-A-Mango (orangey-coral). I ended up only getting these 3 and a Sally Hansen polish called Expresso, a total dupe for OPI's Barefoot in Barcelona.

And so ends the onslaught of pictures. . . .'til next time Saturday-After-Black-Friday sales. . . .SHOOOOOOOOTZ!

Good Things Come To Those Who Shop At Goodwill

Went to Goodwill with sista and mum and BOY did I score. I found this shirt in a gorgeous cyan/turqouise color and a pretty woven belt. Then when we went to go checkout, I spotted two standout watches. I rated them both at about a 9 on the LoPGAtK scale. (Level of Product Gorgeousness According to Kiki) They were both the only watches working perfectly and both were in excellent condition. I came home and did some research and turns out they both sell online at Target! But it's whatevs, cuz for the regular price of that gold watch alone, I got TWO! I've been looking for an oversized gold watch since I saw the Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs ones on Tumblr. . . . . so I'm frackin happy as right now.

They Were $6.99 For A Reason!

I love these boots!! The only thing is there is a really tiny heel that makes noise when I walk. Now that's totally fine except for the fact that I make noise on every single surface I walk on except for grass! So I'm probably gonna put a layer of glue right under the heel to soften it up so it doesn't click-clack anymore. Also, if you got these boots from Charlotte Russe, you'll notice that they're missing a strap which elevates it's cuteness level 10 stories! ALSO, if you look at the picture closely, you'll notice the clasp is actually a safety pin. Haha that's $6.99 for you, but I still love them!

I just wore an AE pinstriped sundress, steel gray skinny belt, a white cardi and finally, a flamingo pink letterman type jacket.

Tribal, Metallic, Maxi

I got home pretty late last night and woke up in a total rush this morning so this is what I ended up throwing together for church lol. My outfit has 3 different statement pieces: the loud tribal tank, the shiny maxi skirt, and the hugebangous cuff. I usually wear bright colors but today I figured neutral colors couldn't hurt, especially since the maxi skirt has a really shiny, almost metallic sheen to it. It's probably the most comfortable outfit I've ever worn to church :)

Photobucket

Cardigan: Savers, $6. Tribal tank: Goodwill, $4 (Still available at F21). Maxi skirt: Savers, $5. Earrings: F21, $5.80. Cuff: Goodwill, $2.90. Woven purse: Goodwill, $8. Wedges: Goodwill, $7.

Ramblings:

The weaving on the bag is very pretty and adds an earthy tone to any outift. It's HUGE so I could fit choke books inside! Aaahh and I LOVE my wedges. The design on top is unbelievably cute and they're surprisingly really comfortable. Some people prefer to wear flats under their maxi skirts, but I like heels or wedges. I'm only 5'4 so the long flowy skirt + added height makes me look willowy and much slimmer :)

Also, my nail polish is called Sheer Cotton, from the Revlon Top Speed collection. It's similar to OPI's I Need Space, but way too watery :P To get it to that shade, I had to apply a coat of white nail polish first. For reals kine, DON'T buy that nail polish lol. OPI may be $9, but the color payoff is worth it.

Sarcasm: Richer Than Appears

My OOTD is centered around rich colors. (The pictures reeally don't do justice to the top or the purse, hence the title.) I was inspired by Shirley Beniang's OOTD entry called "Bun, Berry, Leopard." Also, I'd been wanting leopard print flats for fall BADLY ever since I saw Wendy (wendyslookbook) style them in her Fall Trends video! I went to F21 and found two different pairs, but both were around $20 so I passed on that. But THEN I went to Salvation Army and found this pair for a mere $2. . . SCORE :D

Photobucket

Fuschia top: Goodwill, $4. Skinny jeans: Gifted. Leather bag: Goodwill Surplus Store, $4. Leopard flats: Goodwill, $2. Pearl studs: Aldo, $2. Book: my local bookstore, $1.50.

Ramblings:

The picture doesn't do the color justice! I love it because the color is absolutely gorgeous on my skintone, the fabric is light and sheer, and the pleats, OMAGYAAAHH the pleats! I wanted this to be the main statement of the entire outfit. Definite wardrobe staple.
